30 LU Comm Students take part in PCS Workshop

30 communication students from Laguna University participated in a workshop hosted by the Philippine Communication Society (PCS) on September 9, 2023, at Trinity University of Asia in Quezon City.

Under the guidance of Ms. Rhia Obiniana, the participants engaged in a day-long Media Conference titled “Paano mag-communicate ang mga beshy ko?” A Gen Z’s Guide to Crafting Communication Research and Career Strategies which featured notable resource speakers namely, Dr. Jonalou Labor, Editor-in-chief, PCS Review, Mr. Jao Bautista, Advertising Creative Director, Mr. Jervis Manahan, News Reporter, ABS-CBN News, Ms. Nina Franco, Director of Marketing Communications, Organic Intelligence and Mr. Romnick Sarmenta, an award-winning actor and Faculty, Trinity University of Asia.

Ian Jesse Sales, one of the attendees, expressed his appreciation for the workshop, stating that it broadened his horizons and ignited his passion for communication research and career opportunities.

Dr. Jonalou Labor, the PCS Review Editor-in-chief, shared valuable advice with aspiring researchers, emphasizing the significance of recognizing their strengths in various research aspects. “Research worth doing is research worth disseminating,” Dr. Labor said.

Mr. Romnick Sarmenta, an award-winning actor, concluded the event by highlighting the communication challenges faced by Generation Z and stressing the need to understand personal “branding” as a communicator while upholding morals and virtues.
