Signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding between Laguna University, Philippines and Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University, Thailand was held on February 27, 2023 at the conference room of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado, Vice President for Academic Affairs, represented the Laguna University, while Dr. Chirdchoo Nitthita, Vice President for Planning and Finance, stood for NPRU. Dr. Alex Macario C. Cecilio, Dean of the College of Business, Administration & Accountancy of LU, and Dr. Chuamuangphan Nipon, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences of NPRU attested as the witness. Dr. Norayda M. Dimaculangan, CBAA Research Coordinator and Mrs. Arceli R. Benavente, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management were also present to represent LU, while Dr. Chantana Watankanajana, Dean-Faculty of Management Science, Dr. Hataichanok Buajarcon Dean Faculty of Nursing Science, Dr. Wilairat Kirin, Director, Language Institute from NPRU.
The ceremony commenced with an audio visual presentation of the two higher education institutions, then it was followed by a brief introduction of all the delegates. After some clarification regarding the contents of the MOU, it proceeded to the signing ceremony. The purpose of the MOU is to develop academic and educational cooperation and promote mutual understanding between LU and NPRU. Both institutions agree to engage in the following collaborative activities in the field of Tourism, Business and Accountancy under the College of Business, Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) on the basis of equality and reciprocity: a. Exchange of faculty; b. Exchange of students; c. Conduct of seminars/trainings related to the program; d. Conduct of collaborative research projects; e. conduct of cultural exchange activities and immersion programs; f. Exchange of academic information and materials; and g. Promotion of other academic cooperation as mutually agreed.
Incidentally, the LU delegatespresented their research studies to the Tourism and Business students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Research studies were as follows: Members’ Commitment to LUECCO during Pandemic: Basis of LU-Cooperative Model by Dr. Norayda M. Dimaculangan; Employee Satisfaction and Job Performance in the Accommodation Sector: Basis for Human Resource Plans by Mrs. Arceli R. Benavente; and EDUTOKS (Educational Tiktoks): a Tool In Enhancing English Proficiency of College Education Students of Laguna University by Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado.
The event was culminated by an ocular visit to some of the facilities of the NPRU: Nursing/ Clinical Laboratories and the Learning Resource Centers of grade school and pre-school units of the Faculty of Education.
