The Laguna University Community Extension Services Unit (CESU) in collaboration with the College of Health Sciences and Medical & Dental Clinic conducted a Bloodletting activity on February 13, 2023 at the Laguna Sports Complex Gymnasium, Brgy. Bubukal, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
Donors coming from the different colleges and units of Laguna University and other stakeholders voluntarily participated in the blood donation campaign which aims to develop the culture of voluntary blood donation in Laguna University and to support the Philippine Red Cross Laguna Chapter (PRC-Laguna) in collecting adequate supply of blood to save more lives.
The blood donors were given free snacks and drinks such as porridge with quail eggs, hardboiled eggs, distilled water and fruit-flavored juice drinks courtesy of the sponsors tapped by LU-CESU namely, Big Brew- Sambat Bubukal Branch, KFC Sta. Cruz, Laguna and Mag’s and Rem Catering and Food Services.
This year’s bloodletting activity will not be possible without the help of the PRC-Laguna and student volunteers from Midwifery. The team handled the screening of the volunteers and collection of blood. With their assistance, the activity was conducted safely and efficiently.
One hundred thirty-one (131) bags of blood were turned over to the Philippine Red Cross Laguna Chapter, the organization tasked to deliver adequate, safe and quality blood supply to the most vulnerable.
