One’s thirst for knowledge can never be easily quenched. This has been true in the case of Dr. Luisito L. Lacatan. Just this year, he has participated and co-authored three researches.
First on the list is the research entitled “Competency-based Mapping Tool in Personnel Management using Analytical Hierarchy Process.” This research is completed in partnership with Mr. Gary M. Penuliar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO). They stated that the Competency-based mapping tooI can assist in assessing and monitoring the performance of individual personnel, offices, and other units under the administrative control of the organization. With this tool, it will be easy to do performance assessments, give rewards and promotions, transfers, and helps identify the less-performing employees and areas, which require keen development. A decision-support system like Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) makes sound decisions on fact, analyzes problems skillfully, and use logic to reach solutions.
Dr. Lacatan also studied on “Text Categorization of Filipino Tweets using Naive Bayes Algorithm” with Ms. Sharmaine Justyne R. Maglapuz of the City College of Calamba (CCC) as co-author. Through this research, they developed a Filipino Tweets Categorization system that categorizes tweet in puts into 4 different categories such as Politics, Entertainment, Sports and Technology.
The third research is “Sentiment Analysis of Facebook Posts towards Good Governance Using SVM Algorithm: A Framework Proposal” which is co-authored with Ms. Regina G. Almonte of CCC. This study devised and proposed a framework for sentiment towards the attainment and maintenance of good governance. They used the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm.
These researches are expected to create positive impact to the community, private and public academic institutions. Dr. Lacatan’s consistent dedication in developing researches is a manifestation of enriching the research engagement of the teaching staff.
