In celebration of LU’s 15th founding anniversary, the Research & Development Center (RDC)
held a review of Best Action Research Proposal presentation via Zoom on February 18, 2021. The
said activity was the culmination of the two-day seminar-workshop on action research that was led
by Research Director Dr. Marie Joy Q. Elomina last January 8 and February 2, 2021.
The presentation was divided into two categories: the teaching and the non-teaching staff.
The teaching staff category was consisted of the Senior High School department, College of
Computing Sciences, College of Education, College of Health Sciences, College of Arts &
Sciences, College of Business, Administration, & Accountancy, and the College of Engineering.
On the other hand, the Human Resource and Management Office, University Clinic, University
Library, Research and Development Center, Cashier’s Office, and Registrar’s Office formed the
Non-teaching staff category.
The evaluators were experts in the field of research. The activity was led by Dr. Maria Ana
T. Quimbo, an established professor from University of the Philippines, Los Baños, Laguna, Dr.
Luisito L. Lacatan from the LU College of Engineering, and Dr. Marie Joy Q. Elomina.
Each presenter was given 20 minutes – 15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for the
Q & A portion. Based on the evaluation results, the Senior High School – Practical Research
Group and the Research and Development Center were awarded as the Best Action Research
Proposal in the teaching and non-teaching category, respectively.
The event was conceptualized with the hope of invigorating the passion for conducting
research among the teaching and non-teaching staff. This is just LU’s first step in achieving its
innovative goals and strategic plan. The institutions have high hopes that starting this year, the
research quantity, quality, thrusts, and contribution to local development in LU will continuously
build up to greater heights.
Dr. Quimbo shared that she was happy to be able to impart her knowledge and expertise to
the participants. Dr. Lacatan, on the other hand, said that he was glad to be part of the event. In
closing, Dr. Elomina expressed her gratitude to everyone who actively participated and supported
the activity. On behalf of the LU President, Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviña and VP for Academic
Affairs, Dr. Bart T. Tanguilig III, Dr. Elomina reiterated the importance of research in an academic
institution and this activity is a good way to strengthen the research capability of LU.
