The BSIT and BSCS students together with their advisers participated in the Integrated Southern Tagalog Association of Information Technology Education (iSITE) with the theme “Holistic Development of IT Professionals” at Batangas State University (BSU), Alangilan Campus on October 3, 2019.
The objective of the conference is to update students with the latest trends in the world of information technology particularly the 4th Industrial Revolution and to be competitive in the field of IT. Participants were 2nd 3rd and 4th Year BSCS, BSIT and BSIS students and ITE-program-delivering schools in the region.
The LU delegation was composed of 108 BSIT students and 41 BSCS students with the faculty-in-charge namely: Prof. Marlon L. Atanacio, Prof. Joselle A. Banocnoc, Prof. Jenneth R. Mondez, Prof. Mc Joshua Y. de Lima, Prof. Jeruz E. Claudel and Prof. John Ren G. Santos.
The programme started at exactly 8:30am with the welcome remarks of Dr. Tirso A. Ronquilo, President of BSU, followed by the opening remarks of Dr. Jessie Montalbo, Vice President of iSITE. The first speaker dwelt on the discussion of Technopreneurship in the person of Engr. Albertson Amante, Head of BSU Center for Technopreneurship and Innovation of BSU. He focused on the commercialization of software and systems developed by the students to be utilized and implemented for thorough improvement.
Meanwhile, Ms. Judylen Montrey, Program Chair, College of Tourism and Hospitality of FAITH challenge the student to be more responsible and show the right attitude in doing their craft. Her topic evolves on #RealTak #ProperAttitude. She emphasized that attitude and personality matters most rather than skills, because skills can be taught.
In the afternoon, a talk on IoT- Internet of Things tackled by Ms. Flordeliza Fernandez, Software Engineer Supervisor of FINDEN Technologies, Inc. and Mr. Geary Hinolan, Analytic Engineer from SAAS. Discussions focused mainly on how the internet plays an important role in the field of technology. Automations and data analytics are very in demand in the market. The speakers challenged the BSCS students to continue in developing algorithms that can be utilized by the BSIT students in commercialization. – Marlon L. Atanacio
