The annual general assembly of the Communication Department organized by the Communication Circle was held last August 28, 2019 at the audio visual room of the New Building with the theme: “Ikadalawampu’t isang Siglong Kabataan: Mag-aaral ng Komunikasyon Instrumento sa Pagbabago.”
The assembly aimed to orient the neophytes to the world of communication students and to re-orient old students as well. Lyka Betuin and Dominic Compendio, both second year students, hosted the first part of the program. The opening remarks was given by Prof. Tim De Castro, adviser of the Communication Circle.
Prof. Numeriano B. Aguado, the Dean of College of Arts, Sciences and Technology (CAST), delivered an inspirational message. Dean Aguado used the acronym B.A.C. to enumerate important things to ensure a prolific student life. B for be the Best. A for be Assertive and Ambitious and C for be Capable in order to reach one’s dreams. On the other hand, Prof. Emelyn Napiza, head of the Office of the Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) reminded all the students be involved in the activities of the department. To know more about the department, Prof. Gloria Obiniana, BAC, Program Coordinator, presented the department’s accomplishments last semester. She showed pictures of seminars and workshops attended not only by the students but also by the faculty members in both local and international conventions, theater plays, photography contests and filmmaking competitions. A vibrant discussion of the Department’s vision and mission was handled by Prof. Dolores Magbuhos. The Prefect of Student Discipline of the university, Dr. Olga Domingo, reiterated in her discussion, the rules and regulations of the school as well as the sanctions to maintain discipline. She emphasized that discipline is about self-control- something that is necessary to ensure success.
The Search for Multimedia King and Queen 2019 followed right after the lectures. Among the 16 candidates, Mr. Israel Sison, first year student and Miss Zaira Hebe, fourth year, were proclaimed Multimedia King and Queen 2019.
The team building activities took place in the afternoon. This was facilitated by the officers of Communication Circle headed by its president, Mark Dave Dela Cruz
Before the day ended, everyone gathered again in front of the new building for the final activity to formally welcome the one hundred nine (109) first year BAC students.
