The Board Members of Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) conducted a forum at the Audio Visual Room of Laguna University on November 16, 2018 with the theme, “Para sa Matalino at Responsableng Panonood ng Pamilyang Pilipino Forum.”
The forum was held to raise public awareness and participation relative to MTRCB’s revised Classification Rating Advisory and the Color-coded Film Rating Advisory and to increase audience sensitivity and media literacy especially among students who are most vulnerable to media.
Around 200 students and faculty members attended the forum which started at 9:30 a.m with an invocation led by the LU Performing Arts Club, followed by the Philippine National Anthem.
Hon. Maria Rachel J. Arenas, MTRCB Chairperson, delivered the welcome remarks via video message. The MTRCB chair talked about the goals of the agency as well as its mandate.
MTRCB Board member Pablo “Bogie” Reyes 1V, Marissa P. Laguardia and Raymond Ismael N. Aquino talked about the revised TV and movie ratings, MTRCB’s review process and monitoring guidelines.
The MTRCB forum significantly helped the students and the faculty members of Laguna University to be very meticulous about the content of movie or teleserye they watch and to be responsible viewers as well.
