Grandparents are the family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy and the keepers of traditions. To honor them, the Laguna University-College of Health Sciences (LU-CHS) celebrated Grandparents Day with the thirty-four (34) elderly of Nazareth Bahay Pag-ibig (Home for the aged), San Pablo City on September 18, 2018, with the theme “Lab U Lolo at Lola”.
The event started at 9:00 a.m. with an opening prayer led by Mr. Yru Javier followed by the opening remarks of Ma’am Clen of Nazareth Bahay Pag ibig.
Lectures about proper hygiene and the importance of exercise and eating nutritious food were discussed by CHS students, Ms. Glenda Casabol and Mr. Jefferson Bandillo. Aside from the discussions, LU-CHS also prepared games, food, prizes and souvenirs for the elderly.
The CHS students entertained the grandpas and grannies with the musical numbers they prepared. On the other hand, the lolo and lolas also shared their timeless talents in singing and dancing as well.
Prof. Edna F. Valenzuela, RN, Program Chair of CHS concluded the event with a message of assurance, that Laguna University will always support Nazareth Bahay Pag ibig. The Program Chair also thanked the Home for the Aged for the opportunity to serve the older members of the society.
This event was made possible with the efforts of the CHS students with the guidance of their Clinical Instructors headed by Prof. Monette O. Bato, Dean, LU-CHS. Gratitude is also extended to the Nazareth Bahay Pag-ibig headed by Rev. Fr. Mardeo Reyes, Sister Bernadette S. Ampo and Ma’am Clen.
Nazareth Bahay Pagibig, Home for the Aged, is a haven for neglected, abandoned,and homeless elders.
