With the theme, “Empowering Millennials through Diversity, Camaraderie and Latest Trends for innovation,” the Information Technology (IT) Department of Laguna University (LU) conducted its annual General Assembly on September 17, 2018 at the Pila Covered Court, Pila, Laguna.
Four hundred twenty-two (422) students and six (6) faculty members of the IT department were in attendance during the event which started at exactly 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon.
The opening remarks was delivered by the Program Coordinator, Prof. Marlon L. Atanacio. The Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences and Technology (CAST), Prof. Numeriano B. Aguado, gave a very informative introduction to enlighten students on the different types of millennial. Meanwhile, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Colegio S. Gascon, reminded the IT students to be responsible users of technology as they embark the world of artificial intelligence.
BSIT General Assembly 2018 gave students the opportunity to be acquainted with each other to boost their social skills. It also served as a venue to showcase their talents as they partook in the various activities and contests undertaken during the event.
It was a back-to-back win for BSIT III-A, as they are again, this year’s champion in the Block Presentation category. On the other hand, Benedict C. Sunega, BSIT IV-A and Hazel N. Sarapat, BSIT I-B, were proclaimed Mr. and Miss Information Technology 2018 by the members of the board of headed by Prof. Reynalen C. Justo of Laguna State Polytechnic University- SCC, a former IT faculty member of LU, Ms. Liza F. Belen, LU Cashier and Ms. Ann Patricia H. Almanzor, LU Graphics Artist.
Prof. Sharmaine Justyne R. Maglapuz was the over-all chair of BSIT GA 2018.
