Laguna University Senior High School (LU-SHS) Supreme Student Government (SSG) initiated Salubong 2018 with the theme, “One Family Inside Laguna University” on Aug. 15, 2018 at Time Plaza, Provincial Capitol Compound, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
Aimed to welcome the 501 Grade 11 students and to strengthen the bond among all SHS students, SSG officers prepared fun games like Human Bingo where Grade 11 students were paired to Grade 12 students.
In the said event, the Presidents of the different student organizations and clubs were also given the opportunity to invite the new students to join campus organizations that suit their interests and would be supportive of their social development.
In his message, Dr. Crispulo Alarde Jr, LU-SHS Principal, reiterated the relevance of joining campus organizations and the importance of participating in co-curricular activities.
When asked how he felt about the success of the welcome event, SSG President, Mr. Rydelle A. Vallejo answered, “Our team prepared really hard for this day and it’s a relief to hear positive feedbacks about it. We’re also looking forward to hold more events that LU SHS students will enjoy. Salubong 2018 is just the beginning. We know that we’re still rookies but with God and with the support of everyone, I believe everything will work well.”
In an interview with Mr. Rogie R. Francia, the SSG Adviser, he mentioned the reasons behind the success of the event. “We are new. We are in the learning process like others, but one thing for sure, we will work with mind, heart and hand. The success of “Salubong 2018” is because of the support of our three Vice Presidents, Ma’am Napiza, Principal Dr. Alarde, and all the SHS Advisers, as well as of Grade 11 and 12 students.”
“SSG will be united as one to pursue the spirit of One Family Inside Laguna University to achieve its goals and plans for the benefit of our SHS students. God bless us.” Mr. Francia added, “
