On May 23, 2025, a significant milestone in community-academe collaboration was reached in Nagcarlan, Laguna, as Laguna University (LU) and Barangay Kanluran Kabubuhayan officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to launch a joint initiative under the universityโs Community Extension Services Program (CESP). This partnership aims to build stronger ties between higher education and the local community through meaningful and sustainable service projects.
In a collaborative effort, LU President Hon. Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviรฑa and Barangay Captain Ben T. Platero have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that highlights their shared dedication to “Project CEP: Canva Editing and Photography.” The College of Computing Studies at LU is taking the lead on an exciting initiative designed to empower barangay officials, Sangguniang Kabataan members, and barangay personnel through a series of informative seminars and workshops focused on enhancing digital skills.
Laguna University is set to hold orientation meetings for its teaching staff and student volunteers. The university will also implement reading interventions tailored to meet learning needs and will consistently monitor and assess the program’s effectiveness.
Barangay Kanluran Kabubuhayan will take the initiative to identify and evaluate qualified participants, offer essential resources, and provide support throughout the implementation of the program.
This collaboration showcases a shared dedication to education and growth, fostering a supportive relationship between a higher education institution and a local government unit.
