Imbibed with the desire to foster good health care services among the patients at the Panlalawigang Pagamutan ng Laguna, San Pablo City, the Laguna University College of Health Sciences (LU-CHS) headed by Prof. Monette O. Bato initiated an activity geared towards health education for patients on May 19, 2017.
The LU-CHS students arrived at their destination as early as 8:00 o’clock in the morning. Immediately, they proceeded to their areas of assignment to perform their tasks. The diploma in midwifery students provided lectures on the proper breastfeeding techniques, newborn care, and cervical cancer awareness to the obstetric cases patients. Health Care Services students provided morning care and vital signs taking. Unmindful of the discomforts brought about by the situation, the students did their work so well which was very much appreciated by the patients themselves. With them during the activity were Prof. Edna F. Valenzuela, Program Chair of CHS, Ms. Marizol V. Dorado RN, Ms. Jhonessa J. Layos, RN and Ms. Editha A. Cajipe, clinical instructors. Prof. Jenneth R. Mondez, Head, Corporate Communication and Marketing Center of LU and Mr. Luigi Kim Flora, Head, LU-MIS were also present to document the event.
The day’s tedious tasks gave the students a feeling of fulfillment for having helped others alleviate pain, touched others hearts and gave hope for a better health condition soon. In their own simple ways, these students were able to let others feel the love of God.
