The Laguna University Senior High School Department (LU-SHS) conducted various contests in observance of the First Multi-Intelligence Day in LU, on April 19, 2017. Spearheaded by the Dean of the General Basic Education, Prof. Agnes G. Ycogo, with the help of the members of the faculty, the activity was held and was hosted by the officers of the Supreme Student Government ( SSG ), headed by Mr. Lawrence Patawe.
The one-day affair started as early as 7:30 a.m. with an opening program. Opening prayer was led by selected STEM 11-A students, followed by the rendition of the Philippine National Anthem. SSG Adviser, Dr. Leonida C. Bueno gave the opening remarks.
To ensure order in the conduct of the different events, contestants registered separately according to their contest category. This was facilitated by the SHS advisers and SSG officers.

Quiz Bee, Poster Making and Slogan writing contests were held simultaneously at 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. In the Quiz Bee category, 12 groups with 5 members each group went through the easy, average and difficult rounds. Meanwhile, 10 students joined the Poster Making contest and 16 for Slogan Writing category.
Six (6) groups of contestants danced to the tune of Basil Valdez’s song “Nais Ko” for the Interpretative Dance Category. In the spoken word poetry category, 10 students vied for the best original spoken word poem expressing the theme “unrequited love”. In the Speech Choir category, all sections of SHS interpreted, Rudyard Kipling’s poem “If”.
The most awaited part of the event, the team building activities were held at Oreta Parking Lot at 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. SSG officers facilitated the said team building events. Contestants were grouped into 5 as goat, cat, tuko, bird and frog. Six stations were at hand for the 5 groups to go about several activities and challenges per station.
SHS faculty acted as judges to the different competitions. SSG officers assisted the mentors in tallying the scores garnered by the competitors.

The activity which was attended by all senior high school students and faculty, ended at 5:30 p.m. Awarding ceremony was held on April 24, 2017, after the flag raising ceremony. Winners received cash prizes, certificates, medals, bar pins and chocolates.
