Dr. Mayra Christina M. Ambrocio, Dean and Associate Professor II, full-time pioneer faculty of Laguna University presented her paper entitled, “Level of Compliance with CHED’s Policies and Standards for Information Technology Education Program of Selected Higher Educational Institutions in the Province of Laguna,” under the area of “Curriculum Development and Innovative Research” during the 2017 International Conference on Technological Revolution in Education (TechRev2017) and Annual National Convention, held on February 22-24, 2017 at Crown Regency Hotel and Convention Center, Boracay Island, Boat Station 2, Malay, Aklan.
TechRev2017 and Annual National Convention, with the theme “Technological Revolution in Education: Approaches, Challenges and Opportunities” was organized by the Royal Institution, Singapore and the Philippine Schools, Universities and Colleges Computer Education and Systems Society (PSUCCESS), Inc. A total of 23 authors presented their paper on their respective areas of research, and on “Technology, Learning Analytics and Tools in Education.” All went through rigid review and selection process following the prescribed international research format. Dr. Ambrocio is a bona fide member of PSUCCESS since 2011.
The conference aims to apprise its members/participants of the latest developments in the field of information and communications technology as well as innovations in education, both in the local and international scene and to appraise research paper presentations related to the theme. Ms. Ain Geuel E. Escober led the national anthem and the doxology, Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, Chairperson of the TechRevEd2017, gave the opening remarks and statement of purpose, while Dr. Carmela S. Perez, President of PSUCCESS delivered the opening remarks. The keynote address was given by Atty. Rodolfo A. Salamina, Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
Distinguished guest speakers addressed various topics of wide interests on the first-two days of the conference. Atty. Ivy Grace T. Villasoto, Chief of the Policy Development Division-National Privacy Commission talked about “Data Security,” a representative of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, DND, RO6 lloilo City, talked on “Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, while Mr. Jonathan De Luzuriaga, President of the Philippine Software Industry Education discussed the “Digital Landscape as the Fearless Genius in Today’s World.” In accordance the conference’s goals, Ms. Cherylle M. Ramos, Director of the Educational Technology Center – University of Santo Tomas gave light on “Raising Global Children Through Enhanced Curriculum, while Dr. Rosicar E. Escober, Information Systems Head of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines shared her in-depth knowledge on “Data Analytics.” Dr. Samuel M. Salvador, Chancellor-Royal Institution, Singapore highlighted the significance on the “Global Education: The Singapore Experience” and, last but not the least, Mr. Gaspar G. Escobar, Jr., Division Chief, Technical Services and Management Division, Department of Energy, deliberately explained the importance of “Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development.”
The oath-taking of the new members of PSUCCESS for the A.Y. 2017-2018 was conducted. All participants/members were awarded with certificates of memberships and participation. The speakers, presenters and their respective institutions or schools were given certificates of recognition. All paper presentations will be published on “Journal on Technological Revolution” this year. RSI and PSUCCESS are reputable organizations: Royal Institution is “a global professional, multidisciplinary membership and accrediting organization,” and PSUCCESS, “a non–government organization devoted to the promotion, design, integration and implementation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and other related activities, projects, programs, and endeavors.”
