The Research and Development Center together with research coordinators headed by Dr. Marie Joy Q. Elomina organized the 1st LU Research Orientation for Students and Advisers on November 13, 2015 in Cultural Center of Laguna. The activity aims to provide guidelines to students and adviser in doing their research. It was participated by (insert total number of pax) third year, fourth year and fifth year students who are doing research as course requirement together with their advisers. The program started at 9:00 AM with a morning praise conducted by Dr. Olga J. Domingo, the program chair of Communication Department followed by a National Anthem and LU Hymn by Aldwin Banaag, a BAC fourth year student. Engr. Mark Agus, research coordinator of the Engineering department acknowledged the presence of the participants.
Dr. Colegio S. Gascon, the Vice President for Academic Affairs stressed the importance of research writing to students and faculty on his Opening Remarks. He posed the challenge of coming up with worthwhile research projects that support the agenda of the institution. After this, Prof. Marian Magcalas, the research coordinator of Accountancy department stated the objectives of the activity.
The first talk focused on the Significance of Research in the Academic Institution by Dr. Elomina, the LU research director followed by the Policies and Guidelines in doing research including the prescribed format to be used which enlightened the participants in doing their research. The last talk focused on the Role of the Committee in research which was delivered by Dr. Norayda M. Dimaculangan, the dean of College of Entrepreneurship, Management and Accountancy. The Open Forum session was facilitated by Dr. Mila Isles, the research coordinator of the College of Education. Prof. Monette O. Bato, VP for Planning, Research and Extension, ended the program with words of gratitude and appreciation to the participants especially to the organizers of the said activity.
